A Word Affair LLC, founded by Patricia Peters in 2004, offers top-notch editorial services. An editing professional, Patricia has worked with various genres, editing projects for Random House, Simon & Schuster, McGraw-Hill, Bamboo Books, CDS Books, and private clients. Her projects include crime fiction, romance novels, young adult fiction, children's fiction, biography, memoir, health, spirituality, business books, essays, earth sciences, and social sciences.

Formerly with the Pearson Learning Group, a division of Pearson Education, Patricia edited various components of research-based reading programs. The components she edited include fiction, nonfiction, guides for students and teachers, and program overviews. The programs focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, skills and strategies, guided reading and shared reading.


Prior to joining Pearson, Patricia was an editor at Ballantine Books, a division of Random House, Inc., where she edited crime fiction, a poetry anthology, and film and TV reference books. She has also freelanced in the publishing industry as the readers service editor at Ladies' Home Journal and as a managing editor of children's books at Avon Books.

Patricia has been a guest editor and panelist at the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Conference and the Colorado Gold Conference. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, and has taught courses in freshman composition, creative writing, and American literature. She is a member in good standing of the Editorial Freelancers Association.
